What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac Rehabilitation is an individualized exercise and education program designed to improve heart health and general wellness.
The program is most beneficial to people who have or have had:
Angina, Diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Attack Heart Surgery, Angioplasty
What is the
Cardiac Disease Lifestyle Program
The Chronic Disease Lifestyle Program is run in conjunction with the Cardiac Rehab, and is an individualized program of exercise and education designed to help improve and maintain activities of daily living and improve healthy lifestyle habits. The Chronic Disease Lifestyle program is suitable for anyone with a chronic disease such as diabetes, COPD, asthma, hypertension, obesity, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, and stoke

About The Program
Our Program includes medical evaluation, physiotherapy consultation and treatment, educational seminars, prescribed exercise, monitored exercise sessions, return to previous recreational activity planning and return to work planning. Over the course of 3 months our team of health professionals will work closely with you to help you achieve your rehabilitation goals, as well as adopt and maintain heart-healthy habits for the rest of your life.

About The Exercise Class...
An individual exercise program will be prescribed and supervised in a group session three times per week. Physiotherapists and Kinesiologists will work closely with you throughout the three months of the program to help you achieve your goals.
Exercise Includes.....
- Warm-up
- Cardiovascular exercises such as walking, cycling,
- and rowing.
- Resistance Training
- Flexibility Training
- Cool-Down

The Educational Seminars
Weekly educational seminars will be offered to help guide you through heart-healthy lifestyle changes. The seminars will help you understand and manage your condition, its causes and treatments and how to decrease your risk factors.

What to Expect
You will be assigned to a supervisor who will guide you through the program and monitor your progress. To fully benefit from the program, you will be required to attend scheduled classes, follow your exercise prescription, and attend the educational seminars.

Your family physician or specialist can refer you to the program.
Cost of Program
Extended health benefits, private billing, long-term disability insurers, and employers may cover some or all of the costs. OHIP does not cover the cost of this program. Please call for details and funding options.
